Waldorf Christmas Angels
This year, like every other, I am reminded of my years as a 'Waldorf child.' In keeping with traditions that I hold dear to this day, I made an angel tree for the holidays using roving and gold thread. It is in special remembrance of my mother-in-law who passed away earlier this year. In this small way, she is still with us.

Light versus Dark
Recently, I have been exploring the liminal space where light and dark meet. In this wall art series, I have four works that all treat the subject in different ways and I invite you to view them through the lens of your own experience.
"Consumed"
"Clash"
"Emerging from the Dark"
"Chasm"

The OAG's Art & Parcel: A Holiday Art Sale
As a contributor to the OAG's gift shop, some of my works will be featured in their annual holiday art sale. Although the show runs from November 5 - January 25, the opening reception of the event is on Friday, November 27th at 6pm and I plan to attend. The sale will feature original paintings, photographs, sculptures, drawings, cards, and jewelry by local artists. It promises to be a fantastic event and sale!
Purple series - planters, vessels and wall art
I splurged and bough this beautiful hand painted roving that I am in love with. It has been inspiring me ever since and so this purple series has come into being.

And now for something a little different!
Although my primary medium is felt, I also enjoy drawing. Here are some of my recent experiments in conte, pencil and pencil crayon:

The Felting Process
1. Lay out roving - un-spun wool - as a base. Place a screen on top and wet out with hot soapy water.
2. Add desired colour and texture to the base surface.
3. Replace the screen with bubble wrap and rub the surface with pressure.
4. Once the wool has shrunk into cloth, rub your project vigorously over the bubble wrap, using the wrap like a washboard.
4. Wrap your project back up in screen and rinse soap out under hot running water.
5. Shape and allow to dry.

Planters!
My love affair with succulent plants and orchids is perpetuated by my obsession with felt vessels - what could be more natural than combining the two?

Functional Felt - broaches and pendants
Over the past few months, I have been exploring ways of making felt relevant and functional. One avenue I have pursued is that of jewelry making - unique and classy pieces to add a new element to any outfit. Below are images of the leaves I have been making with scraps and a finished pendant that combines my felt with a handmade glass bead supplied by Flo Glassblowing (floglassblowing.ca).
